Parent living abroad
Hi,
I'd like to ask a question about my situation. I have been here over 3 years but my mom has retired last year abroad and has never worked in the UK and only earned income from within the EU but outside of the UK. My dad has passed away unfortunately. In my case would I need my mom to submit a PFF2 document for her finances? as when I read through the PFF2 document it only mentions income from within the UK and income that has been reported to HMRC but as she has never been here she could not have reported such income. Also could this qualify me as an independent student as I am 21 years old?

Hi Orsolya,
As you are under 25, we would require the income details from your mother on the PFF2 form. Section 4 of the form is for overseas income, so there is a section there for your mother to complete.
