The Student Room Group

I have lived in the UK all my life - my dad moved to Japan in 2021

I have lived in the UK all my life and so am a British passport holder.

My dad now lives in Japan and is paid in Japanese Yen into a Japanese bank account.

Do I still qualify as a HOME student and will I get my fees paid and allowed to apply for a student loan?

Thank you
Fee liability is normally determined by the uni, not SFE.

Also it will be dependent on your residency status. Have you lived in the UK for the last 3 years? Usually if so, and you are a British citizen or have indefinite leave to remain, you will be classified as a home student.

If you have parents living abroad while you live in the UK it normally doesn't make a difference (perhaps if you went to boarding school here and were not considered ordinarily resident in the UK?).

Thank you for your answer.

I live with my mum in the UK and my mum and me have always lived in the UK. We are both British.

It's just my dad (he is also British) who started work in Japan in 2021.

I can't see how that would have any bearing on your fee status then?
