Student Finance - National Insurance number

Hello,

I applied for student finance from SfE but I have never been issued with a NiNO as I have been living in the EU. On the application, it said that they require the NiNO to finalise my application.

Can I get a NiNO before I move to the UK?
Will SfE make any arrangements with the Department of work and pensions for me to be issued one?

Hi Philip,

You would not be able to get a National Insurance Number until you are in the UK as you need to have a UK address. When do you plan to move to the UK and when does your course start?

I will probably arrive a week before the start of the term. Can I apply from any address e.g. halls of residence?
