As an aside firstly- I was wondering are there any doctors that patrol these threads that give advice just like some uni lecturers have accounts and answer questions on about their courses.
Anyway I'm 18 right now just finished yr 13 and about to start uni after summer is over.
I skipped the last 3/4 months or so of school because of deep psychological stress that I endured there and then only turned up for exams- during that period my heartbeat was arrhythmic- the chest muscles around in the heart region were sore and the muscles around shoulder socket and collar bone were sore, back on that side was sore, the heart muscles themselves felt like hell- like it was being stabbed with a dagger and squeezed at the same time. I had an ECG nothing showed up. Then another- nothing- Then an EKG again nothing- it was really frustrating that my doctor concluded there was nothing wrong with the heart- I am still not convinced- I researched online and these seem to be either the symptoms of tako-tsubo cardiomyapathy or stable angina- both which can be induced by emotional stress- The heart specialist also said nothing was wrong with the heart which greatly annoyed me and said it was just muscle spasms-
i asked if stress can cause heart problems- his response :
"maybe, i dont know- it could do but i doubt it in your case"-
which was extremely **** and lacked greatly in conviction and was not reassuring at all. I then read afterwards online that both of these issues can elude tests like ECG and EKG because the tests only give what is shown at the time- the symptoms I have are accentuated and peak when my mind wanders to the events in life which have caused me such anger and cause stress- I am not thinking about this freely when I am at the hospital
Also I am due for a physical stress test which will see how my heart responds- it is not physical stress that causes it - of course it will be negative- I am more than a little pissed off at my doctor now because its been 3 months I've been seeing him and little progress has been made- th pain is still there- I'm happy that overall there has not been permanent damage to the heart but if I dont reach the bottom of this issue-who knows- doctors get it wrong all the time don't they- and this guy seems an utter fool judging by his response. What should I do?
