Hi Cazo,

I have received a place at Carlisle too for the MSc Occupational Therapy pre reg course. How did your Brighton interview go? Have you decided where youl be going yet?

I am really torn, I have a place at Brunel Uni, London for the 3 year BSc course aswell, if i go for that I wont have to take out a career development loan which I would have to do for Carlisle as the NHS bursary is only just enough for rent. Do i go for the masters at carlisle, will be a good experience or stay at home and not get into debt but do the BSc... How are you lot funding your living costs?

Am waiting to hear back from the outcome of LSBU interview for the masters there.

Good luck everyone x

HEY!!

I got a place in Brighton didnt think my interview went that well so I am delighted. Think Ive decided im taking the msc in Brighton. (another girl that I met on interview day in carlisle got accepted there and shes taking it so maybe ye guys could get in contact if you decide to take carlisle, let me know)

Funding is stressfull, I am almost sure that I do not qualify for any funding for postgraduate courses as Im from Ireland:frown:
So I need to take a loan to cover living expenses etc and I dont meet the requirements to get a career dev loan either.... eeek so have to shop around for best grad loan and hopefully fit in a part time job next year!! (If any other eu students there know any different if there is postgrad funding?? please let me know)

babytinkerbell I suppose wait to see how your lsbu interview went.
The Bsc and Msc are pretty equal qualifications- think Im correct in saying this so we still probably need to specialise in an area of our choice after so you could decide to wait till then to move away however thats 3years of living at home but you will be debt free...also keep in mind that placements will be (extra living costs and travel)

(Also depends on if you want to spend that extra year doing it when you could possibly do it in 2)
if were working fulltime after our course Its not going to be a major struggle to pay off our debt-hopefully!!!

keep me updated:-)
best of luck

Decisions, decisions.... lol. Good luck, will you be living in halls or private? x

Hey I just came across this thread now. I'm so interested in doing this course, I'm guna apply for year 2012. Im also Irish and studied in Maynooth! Have you tried applying to UL for the course? I'd say its tough to get in so thats why i'm applying in the UK also. I was really looking into Cumbria for it. My sister did her post-grad there and she LOVED the college and the nightlife! Did you accept it in the end? I'm really nervous at the thoughts of doing all these interviews.

Hi,

I'm new to the Student Room so i hope i am doing this right! i have gotten a place in the University of Cumbria for September 2011. i really really liked the place when i went for the interview. i was nervous going over but they were unbelievably friendly and the interview questions were what you would expect. they didn't ask anything to throw you off balance. just questions on your previous degree, work, experience of care, why you want to be an OT and why you think you're suited for it. all pretty standard!

i'm from Ireland (dublin) so this will be a big change to be going over to the UK. i stayed overnight for the interview and the place looked so fun. lots of pubs and restaurants and there was a college night out going on which looked pretty mad. happy about that! there was also a big shopping centre...i know that shouldn't matter but it does! the fees are paid by the NHS which is so cool and rent seems to be fairly reasonable as well.

anyway just thought i'd say hi. if anybody is heading to carlisle please feel free to send me an email because there's going to be a lot of going over and back from dublin organising different things so it would be nice to talk to somebody in the same boat.

Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone, just found this website and I'm finding all your posts really helpful so thank you! Congrats to everyone who has already been offered a placement. I have an interview for the MSc OT (Accelerated Route) at Carlisle in a couple of weeks, keeping my fingers crossed as it seems quite a few people have already been accepted on the course. For those of you who have already had your interviews - Do the give you advice on funding when you attend the interview or do you have to sort this out yourself? Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks

Good luck Claire. They are very friendly and put you at ease, so you`ll be okay. In regards to the NHS bursary and NHS funded tuition fees, once you get a place they will notify you whether this is NHS funded. Then in due course they will send you a reference number and info on how to obtain the form.

Hi, i think your heart should be in Cumbria Uni...it's the place to be! i have had a quick look for accommodation but when i contacted the rental companies they recommended not starting to look until August becaue all the places that are available now will be gone by then and then a lot of properties will come onto the market after the college year ends. so i'll take that advice. although i feel like im just sitting around waiting...i want to get organised.

getting excited now! let me know if you decide on cumbria. it will be good to have some idea who i'll be spending the next two years with. louloubella has also accepted so i know one so far!
