The Student Room Group

Channel Island Student

Hi, I need help and don't know where to begin.

I live in the Channel Islands and have for 13 years. I will be studying Adult Nursing at LSBU in Sept 15. As I do not live in the UK I do not qualify for an NHS bursary. I therefore applied for a grant through the States of Guernsey. They agreed to pay for the majority of my tuition fees but have not awarded anything towards my maintenance. This was totally unexpected as I didn't realise my partners income would be considered.

Now I don't know what to do as the Channel Island bank branches don't offer student loans. Will I have to wait untill I'm living in the uk to get a student loan? Is this my only option?

It just feels unfair as everyone else of the course will be covered by a bursary.

Any help would be appreciated

Katie
Hi,

I do apologize but as you live in the channel islands you would be ineligible for SFE support. Speak to the university and see if there's anything they could suggest.

Thanks.
