Periods

So, I am 14 years old and started my period a few months ago (I have only ever had 2) and it has been about 55 days since I have had my last one and I am kind of worried. There is no way that I am pregnant and I eat a healthy diet and do regular exercise. I have read some websites that say periods are supposed to be irregular at the start but is this normal?? Please respond quickly
Don't worry! Periods are always irregular at the start. I repeat: don't worry. Your periods will establish a system in due course.
Well, I'm a guy so Idek but you said "Please respond quickly" so I thought I let you know someone read the post

Hi there! If you have only started your periods most likely this irregularity is normal and will begin to settle the longer you have had your menstrual cycle. But if you are worried about it it wouldn’t do any harm in seeing your GP just for your own peace of mind 😊.
I started my period when I was 11 and I am now 16, so have been having them for around 5 years. It has really only been my last 4 periods that I am starting to be more regular, so dont worry. Its taken me around 4 years just to be regular, but even now I can be early or late!
I wouldn't make an appointment with your GP to discuss this if your only concern is your periods being irregular (if they're painful or very heavy, or you think there's a chance you could be pregnant, that's a different matter) - but irregularity alone at this stage is completely normal, and your GP won't be able to tell you anything different to what you can find out on the internet (i.e. that it often takes months or even a few years for periods to settle down into a routine after you've started!)

From the NHS Choices website:

When to see a GP:
You don't need to get medical advice if you have always had slightly irregular periods or you're still going through puberty.

But see a GP if:

your periods suddenly become irregular and you're under 45

you have periods more often than every 21 days or less often than every 35 days

your periods last longer than 7 days

there's a big difference (at least 20 days) between your shortest and longest menstrual cycle

you have irregular periods and you're struggling to get pregnant

There might not be anything wrong, but it's a good idea to get checked out to see what the cause might be.
You might be referred to a specialist called a gynaecologist if you need any tests or treatment.

Hope that helps.

Why do you want to get pregnant at 14?

Stress can be a factor as to why it's late (When I first started it took nearly 4 months for it to come again so don't worry!)

Periods tend to be irregular when they first begin( around 13-14 years) and when they end( around 51 years). This is the most likely reason for your irregularity.Periods may also be delayed if you are under significant stress.
Its nothing to worry about right now. They will probably regulate in few months but if you find them continuing to be irregular and they either last long time or you have long gaps between them its worth seeing your GP. People always told me they would regulate but mine never did and i ended up having nothing for six months and then I would have very heavy very painful and very long period. by the age of 16 (two years after starting i had relay only had 4 periods. I had been bleeding for two months when my mum took be to the doctor who sent me for an ultrasound and diagnosed me with PCOS. I was put on the pill which took my periods to the other extreme, if i had a period at all it would only last a couple of days, so i changed to the implant which stopped them all together, i had 4 implants over the years and never had periods on that, i got my final one out in may and have not had a period yet.
It is normal, don't worry. It will take a few periods to get regular. Start taking pads and spare cloths with you just in case, especially if you are among the lucky ones who don't get cramps before the bleeding starts...
Everyone is saying theirs is regular. If it came a week earlier than last month, and next time 2 weeks later than the previous month. Is that reasonably regular?

The first half year can be very irregular. Should visit a gyno half year after the first period anyway, just for a follow up.
