Should I apologise

Basically a friend well sort of we chat now and again, messaged me whilst I was on my lunch break and I was with my friend and I kept replying like one word answers felt like I was being blunt and I lowkey feel bad

So shall I message to say sorry like "sorry if I seemed blunt earlier" or shall I leave it at that?

I would but don't make it too big of a thing. Perhaps say 'sorry I couldn't talk properly earlier' and then open a conversation like asking them something (or ask about something they were talking to you about before). It'll be fine but they'll probably appreciate you telling them so they don't think you want to distance yourself.
