Boyfriend used to drink a lot

My boyfriend is very mature and sensible and hardly drinks at all now (for as long as I've known him anyway).
I met his friends for the first time the other day and was shocked at some of the things they told me... about how he was always up for a drink/ night out, he even went as far as taking bottles in to lectures. It's weird because now he's the complete opposite.

He was actually hesitant about me meeting his friends... could this be why?

I feel sure that is the reason he was hesitant to have you meet his friends.

But, as alway, the past is the past. Perhaps he was experiencing newfound 'freedom' and temporarily went off the deep end. What matters is the guy he is today. If he doesn't over drink with you then what he did in the past doesn't matter. I trust you're not getting married immediately and if that is the case then you have some time to evaluate him and determine if he's actually given up his partying way. If you find he has put that lifestyle behind him then ignore and don't worry about comments his friends make about the past. Your'e dating the present and the future..... let the past be behind you both.
