The answer is Yes, Burgas Medical University meets all the GMC Requirements to be approved. I currently study here and the university has brilliant teachers that are keen to help students succeed.
Feel free to ask any questions about the University, I would be happy to help 🙂

Hi, are you a uk student studying in Burgass. My brother is studying there in first year and has just found out that it is not on the GMC list. Will this cause any issues when coming back to work on the UK ?

The GMC does not directly accredit or recognise universities outside the UK. Instead, it provides guidance on what it considers acceptable qualifications. For universities in the EEA (this includes Bulgaria), medical qualifications recognised by Bulgaria will be compliant with GMC regulations.

I am prepared to be corrected, but unless there are issues with this university in Bulgaria, I can't see there is an issue.

Yes you are exactly correct !

Therefore because Burgas Medical University is in Bulgaria which is within the EEA, this shouldn’t be a problem when coming back to the UK to work. In addition, it’s on the world directory of medical schools which is also one of the requirements of the GMC.

Yeah I’m a UK student.

As sjp said, the GMC doesn’t directly accredit or recognise any universities but it does provide a list of what is acceptable. Burgas Medical university is within the EEA and since it’s in Bulgaria, it meets the requirements of the GMC, so coming back to the UK shouldn’t be a problem at all.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask any more questions
