Hello, I got 9999 8888 763 on my gcses (3 in French) and I'm on track to get 4 A* predicteds for a levels in Bio, chem, maths and physics. I was wondering if it would be worth applying to oxbridge for medicine assuming I get a very high UCAT score (which is what cambridge will now use) and whatever oxford will later use. Please let me know. Be harsh please. Thank you.
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.
The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources. Well, tbh, what do you think ... ? eg. have you read through the medical school entry threads on TSR ...? What sorts of GCSE grades and predicted grades do people post there? I think you already know the answer to your question.

I've seen everyone get all 9s/mostly 9s who have applied to oxbridge med. So I'm not sure. What did you mean by I know? (I know as in I can or cant?)

If you scroll down on this page - https://www.medsci.ox.ac.uk/study/medicine/pre-clinical/statistics - you'll see that the mean number of A* at GCSE for all applicants was 8.3. You have 8 (4x9s and 4x8s), so there's nothing in your GCSEs to indicate it wouldn't be worth applying to Oxbridge for medicine.
You also said that you will be applying with: 4 A * predictions for A Level in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics; A high UCAT.
Again, it is very obvious that there is nothing there to indicate it wouldn't be worth applying to Oxbridge for medicine.

Have courage!
Except Oxford also use %A*s in shortlisting. OP has 72% A* and there was 1 person interviewed and nobody made an offer with this score. 11% of those with 8 A*s got an offer and almost all of those are likely to have contextual flags. Oxford would be extremely risky, Cambridge possibly less so (given a low success rate overall), but it all depends on UCAT and pre-supposing a high UCAT is a rookie error. Make choices about where to apply when you have all your stats
