Foundation and Top Up SFE Funding

Hi,

asking on behalf on someone else:

They want to study a 2-year full-time Foundation FdSc Degree, then study a 1-year full-time Full Honours Degree Top-up - totalling 3 years full-time study and obtaining a full undergraduate BSc.

They have NO previous undergraduate study - straight out of A-levels.

Based on this, will SFE fully fund the tuition fees for the two separate courses (Foundation and Top Up) and offer maintenance loans for both courses?

Thanks

Hi Lily. Yes, in this case the student would be funded for both the foundation course and the top up. We use a different previous study calculation for the top up course so provided they have no other previous study they would be eligible for both. Thanks, David

Hi David! thank you

That's great, also considering a worst-case scenario if this person had to repeat a year during the Foundation year would they still get funding for the Top Up year?

Hi Lily. If the student repeats one year they are still ok for all funding. Any more than 1 year this would impact their eligibility. If something does happen outside of their control they can send us a letter and evidence and we can review and potentially award another year of funding, if that happens. Thanks, David
