UCAS Referee/Reference
I go to a school in the United States...I have a guidance counselor (does college applications and sends out grades to colleges), but I have not had her as a teacher. I have a teacher but she is well just a teacher and the referee description is someone who has taught you and knows your grades...

Though you can only have one referee, the actual reference does not have to be written by just one person. Both your teacher and guidance counsellor can contribute to the reference. I'd recommend using your guidance counsellor as your referee, but asking the teacher to write something to go in the reference and have the counsellor combine it with whatever they write.
