Student Finance on an unpaid placement year?

Hello there, I will be starting an unpaid six month placement as part of a course. But I will be living with my parents. Does anyone know if i'm still entitled to money? I would call them up but i'm currently living abroad. :colondollar:

Hello,

There are a few factors in which need to be taken into account. If you're a returning student, you'll be entitle to the tuition fee loan, maintenance loan and also maintenance grant if you apply to be means-tested.

Please bare in mind this is for a type "A" unpaid placement studying at the university for more than 10 weeks.

Type B placement would be a student studying a work placement in a hospital, Health or Local Authority carrying out duties relating to children, health or welfare, in the prison probation sector or unpaid research in a UK or overseas institution are entitled to full student support package as if they were in full-time study.

If you're type B, then please let me know as the funding is slightly different.

Please let me know if it is a placement within the UK or abroad.
