Help with living costs?

Hi, we are a French family of modest means, with a daughter who is keen to study Natural Sciences at university in England (it is not a course available here in France).

I understand that as an EU national she can get the student loan for the tuition fee, but no help for living cost like UK students might get?

Is there any other kind of help she might be eligible for to help with accommodation and food costs?

Hi Cora,

as an EU student your daughter would be entitled to the Student finance EU tuition fee loan, however she may also be entitled to an EU bursary from her university or college.
Not all universities or colleges offer this bursary and it is designated by the institution themselves.
When you apply to the university or college they will send student finance a list of all eligible students whom we will then contact to advise they can apply for the bursary.

I would advise to speak to the university or college initially to check if the course she is studying attracts an EU bursary award.
