Why is my evidence going to take longer to process?

So I was told last month that my evidence would take 20 working days to process and my application updated but it's now hit the 20 days and I'm being told it's going to take another 20 working days for it to go through as it needs to be checked manually or something? So now my application is not going to be updated until the 11th September, just 6 days before I'm due to get my student finance!

Since when has it taken 40 working days from evidence being received to an application being approved? And why is it not stated anywhere that this may happen as this is the first I've ever heard of evidence needing to be manually checked after the 20 days, I know there can sometimes be delays of a few days but apparently all the information has been processed and apparently approved yet it still needs to be checked manually.
