Request of an early maintenance loan payment

Evening,
I stumbled across a post saying that if you can prove that yiure going through financial difficulties you may request sfe for an early payment as long as you can prove and send all evidence to them but this has to be done at least 11 working days before the payment is due.

In my case, I'm going through hard time financially and had an overpayment of roughly 6k taken substracted off my January payment which will plunge me in more hardship that I'm already facing.

So long story cut short, I've been asked to fill in a PN1 form which I did as well as explaining why I interrupted my studies in January 2022 I've restarted this Sept 22 and awaiting to. Know much I would be getting bearing in mind that sfe already told me 6k will be deducted off my next instalment so I rand sfe and was told that I will hear from them this week but im also aniticipating send a financial hardship for with all evidence requesting if I can get my January instalment paid earlier and also if possible that the overpayment can be deferred to the enxt academic year.

I know ive asked a lot but does anyone know or any SF advisors know if a payment requested early can be granted?

I appreciate your response.

Thanks

Thanks for your response. Has it ever been any case where a student has requested a discretionary payment through hardship form having sent a ton of evidence and been accepted? By acceptance, I meant having their maintenance paid earlier as in my case asking for January payment to be paid earlier? I've sent all evidence required on 17th Nov as I'm going through financial struggle as we speak.

I've read extensively about students mentioning financial hardship through discretionary payment but I have not seen anywhere where any students has reauesyed an early payment jabbing proved and sent all evidence and being accepted.

Thanks

Hi there,

SFE have made early payments to students who have provided sufficient evidence. These cases are assessed on a case by case basis by our dedicated team, who will contact the student directly to advise of their decision once all evidence has been reviewed.

Hope this helps,
Tina

Morning,
I've sent all the evidence for financial hardship to the discretionary department team which was received on 21st Nov, just wondering if il get any notification email from them stating that they got it, I know it's been mentioned on here that it takes 18 working day to get a reply etc but I've also called sfe yesterday to check the progression of my PN1 form which was received on the 7 Nov and was told I will have a response on Wed 30th Nov but when I've asked about the discretionary form that I sent the advisor couldn't tell nor see on the system how long it might take, she said with the fact that it was received on 21st Nov ( which was myself telling her when it got to them) she estimated by 14th Dec.

Anyone or advisors shed a light on this do you just wait for their response or will they send you a notification email that they got it and working on it.

I will appreciate your response.

Thanks

Hi there,

You may get a system generated email confirming receipt of the form and evidence once this has been reviewed by our indexing team who are currently taking an estimated 8 working days to sort through received documents and ensure they are sent to the correct team for processing.

Our financial hardship team are currently taking approximately 16 working days to process the forms and this timescale will be based on the date received. So based on a received date of the 21/11, an update is expected on approximately the 14/12. Our timescales are estimated and subject to change so I would recommend regularly checking your emails for updates, our assessors will contact you with a decision once they have reviewed your form.

Hope this helps,
Tina

Hi,
Student finance got in touch today about my my PN1 form that I sent on 7th Nov and have sent this email attached above as well as requesting me to send "apparenly a signed form for my PN1" which I'm pretty sure I signed and posted it to yourself alongside a ton of evidence.

My query is seen as there will be a royal mail strike commencing on 9th would it be much quicker if I upload it straight onto my student finance account but I will also make sure I send it special delivery tomorrow morning and according to the lady I got on the phone it takes 5 working days for it to be linked to my account. I've also been told that I will get an update on my financial hardship form that I sent on the 21st Nov on Wed 7th Dec. Its all getting a bit confusing here been told " will get a response from PN1 form on 6th Dec and a response for financial hardship form on 7th" just wondered whats sort of response would that be?

I'm just wondering what that email means and how long do you roughly think it will take to have it all sorted.

Your response will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,

Unfortunately a PN1 form is one of the few forms which can't be accepted via a digital upload as it is a primary form.

It's normal to receive updates at different times depending on the evidence or documents you have sent. PN1 forms are processed by our standard process, first viewed by our pre assessment team and then passed to our assessors. Financial hardship forms and evidence are processed by a specialised team of assessors.

In terms of receiving a response, this will either be a system generated email or an email from our assessors either confirming that your financial hardship form has been accepted, or confirming if further details are needed.

Thanks,
Tina

Thanks for your response, I've rang SF again this morning and was told that I no longer need to send a signed delfararion of my PN1 form as the operator said he can see it inf don't of him that everything is up and running although on my student account it still says I need to send evidence such as proof of identity and signed PN1 form.

All he said is that you guys are waiting for my passport to be checked as per the attachment I uploaded yest and said it takes 5 working days.

Another query of mine is that could I be decline for financial hardship as in my case I've asked them if I can get the payment earlier I've sent all the evidence required and been told I will hear of the decision by Friday 9th Dec.

Thanks

Hi there,

Financial hardship clams can be approved or declined depending on the assessment of the evidence provided. Our assessing team will let you know their decision once your evidence has been fully processed.
