Is FutureDoc or Medic Mind Coaching worth it?

Hey, as anyone reading this used FutureDoc or Medic Mind tutoring to get into medical school? I am a graduate entry applicant, looking for some structured support to guide me through preparing for UCAT and GAMSAT. I want help as I work full time and am finding the whole process of applying and preparing for the entrance exams overwhelming. However, I don’t want to pay a stupid amount of money. Medic Mind seems reasonably priced, whereas FutureDoc doesn’t state a price until you have a call with them.

Please can anyone offer any advice?

I am sitting GAMSAT in March 2024 and then possibly the UCAT in July and GAMSAT again in Sept (if necessary). I work full time, as I say, so I’m a bit stressed that I won’t have enough time, though I can definitely dedicate 10 hours per week.

Thank you for any advice.

Hi, I'm also a hopeful graduate entry applicant (in 3rd year right now). I am sitting the GAMSAT in March, as well as the UCAT in summer too. How is prep for the GAMSAT going for you? I can relate to the stress of everything. Though I don't work full time I am starting a part time HCA job soon and I am a full time student, life is very hectic at the moment.

Hey, omg I can relate to that feeling all too well. I hope you’re alright and managing to take time to rest and look after yourself. My advice would be to prioritise your degree right now to be honest with you and be wary of burn out!

So I started GAMSAT revision and absolutely hated it, I preferred UCAT prep as it was more structured which was easier for my ADHD brain as I’m a chronic overplanner / overthinker. I found GAMSAT prep really quite overwhelming, there’s not a chance I could’ve done it alongside my degree so seriously fair play to you.

I’ve actually had quite the turn of events since I last posted, though. I got a job in a hospital and came to the conclusion that it wasn’t something I enjoyed nor did I see myself enjoying the role of a doctor (and certainly not in the NHS). So, basically, I left the job and stopped prepping for the test. So I’m sorry I can’t be of much help ☹️ but I really wish you well with it and hope you're looking after yourself.

Sorry, I forgot to mention... I wouldn’t recommend paying for the coaching that I mentioned as, through doing research, I came to the realisation that these programmes essentially pray on people who are desperate to get into medicine, saying they will improve their chances, when in fact all the information is out there for free. Jesse Osborne on YouTube is a really good resource, for example.
