Second degree funding

I would like some advice regarding tuition fee loans for going back to university.

Due to failing my dissertation during my final year, I only graduated with a Diploma of higher education rather than the full BA honours. I received funding for the full three years of study plus maintenance loans. The university have agreed that I could go back a do the top up course, so essentially re-doing final year over again. Would I still be entitled to tuition fee funding for this year of study?

also, what other financial help is there regarding childcare and single parent?

thanks

Hi Jen, How many years of previous study do you have in total? Thanks, Angela

Hi

I did the three years of study and had tuition fees covered by SFE for all three. I did not gain my full BA honours due to failing my dissertation. I instead graduated with a diploma of higher education.

Hi Jen, Therefore you will be eligible for the one year top up course. Thanks, Angela

Thank you for your reply. That is great to hear. would I have to provide any evidence whilst applying for the tuition fees?

also, is there any additional financial support regarding single parents and childcare?

Hi there. No, you don't have to supply evidence for the Tuition Fee.

There is a Childcare Grant and Parents Learning allowance you may be eligible to apply for.

Childcare Grant: https://www.gov.uk/childcare-grant/what-youll-get

Parents Learning Allowance: https://www.gov.uk/parents-learning-allowance/what-youll-get

Thanks, Leah.

Thank you.

I just want to clarify, will I be eligible for the one year top up course fees even though I have already received three years worth of tuition fees previously?

Hello

I’ve applied for student finance for my top up course and it has come back saying that I am not entitled to it due to studying the same level? I thought I would be entitled to the tuition fee loan due to studying the year again to gain my full BA honours degree, as stated above.

Could someone please advise further. Thanks
