My dad slapped my mother...

Yesterday my mother and my dad got into an argument. Their married about 30 years now ( I'm 18) and he slapped her for the first time and pulled her hair. I got involved as i couldn't watch him abusing her ( not sure if it's abusing)... and he left saying he wants to calm down. I don't know what to do! As i said he it was the first time he redacted like that and i haven't ever seen him so out of control. He is my father and i can't stop "loving" him , but I'm worried... I don't know how to feel.

Sorry to hear this, I can imagine how upsetting it is. I don’t think physical violence in the home is ever justified. Letting the dust settle is sensible. If it’s out of character he will likely regret it and try to sort things out. How is the relationship normally
