Changing from 3 to 4 years, would I still get funding for final year?

Hi,

I’m currently studying 3 year BA course but I want to change to 4 year BA with study abroad/placement year. I’m in my second year.

The problem is that I took out interruption of studies in 2020, using my ‘gift year’ and returned in 2022 to first year.

I’ve seen that changing course is considered using gift year but I’m not sure if it falls under the same umbrella as it would still be the same course, just with study abroad in-between. I wouldn’t be restarting the course.

I really want to so study abroad with Turing scheme but I’m not sure -about SFE funding for the final year.

Any response is appreciated, thank you
Hi piniohz,

Changing the length of your course wouldn't be counted as using an additional year of funding in the previous study calculation so you will be able to get funding for the 4-year version of the course with a placement year.

Hi Callum,

So the formula would be:

New Course length- previous study = availble funding?

so 4 - 2 = 2 years of funding left

Kind regards

Hi piniohz,

The formula is: length of course + additional year - years of previous study
