Student finance England for students over the age of 25

Hi. When I turn 25 do i automatically get the top maintenance loan from the government? Or does this depend on whether I’ve supported myself for the past however many years?

Hi Medmad14567,

You will be automatically assessed as an independent student for the full Maintenance Loan if you are 25 at the start of the academic year. The evidence of self support is only for students under 25.

Thank you for this. As i am doing medicine as a second degree, are you aware of the maintenance loan i will get in 5th year? As im not sure as to whether i will still be entitled to the full amount or the reduced amount?
