Hi HRH, I can't believe that they won't offer any assistance for at least another year??? According to the NHS website, once you have been TTC for 12 months you are entitled to be investigated (blood tests/progesterone/sperm tests etc...). Although I do believe that you wouldn't be entitled to IVF/ICSI etc on the NHS because you already have a biological child, which I think is absolutely disgusting, although if you do have the investigations, it could just be a simple case of needing a progesterone pessary or Clomid, which I think that you would be entitled to. I've certainly never heard of anyone being denied investigations/treatment due to being too young. Is there another DR at the surgery you can ask a second opinion of? Or even another surgery to go to?
I know how frustrating this is. I've been trying for 10 months now and had 3 miscarriages in that time; I went to the DR for blood tests yet she claimed she couldn't do them there, so have been referred to my local RMC (Recurring Miscarriage Clinic) which has a 13 week waiting list so I'm just in limbo here. I know of plently other women who have had the blood tests there and then at their DRs surgery and yet I'm having to wait so long. My husband has eventually decided enough is enough and we're going to a private DR on Harley St, but I realise this isn't an option for everyone.
I really hope you get some answers soon, and I wouldn't take the DR's word about leaving you another year. *hugs*
