Cancelling an approved maintenance loan?
Hi there, I recently submitted an application to SFE which has been approved for both a maintenance and tuition fee loan. However, my circumstances have changed since that point - I'm going to be living at home and won't need a maintenance loan. Is there any way to cancel an approved loan online or will I have to phone SFE directly? Thanks!
Wait until the summer in case your circumstances change again.
You should be able to change your application online (or worst case scenario you can repay any loan payments straight away). Generally it’s not a good idea financially to try to manage without a loan. Even living at home you’ll have extra costs to cover that you can use your loan for - or save it up to use in later years or after graduation if you need to move out or need to cover transport costs.
