Moving back to study

Hello,
We are looking at relocating back to the UK (British passport Holders and citizens) after many years living in New Zealand.
Our daughter is looking to study Law, as an undergraduate, in 2024.
We would welcome advice about fees and any student loans that would be available for her. Especially as she won’t meet the ‘3 year resident’ requirements. Obviously home student, rather than international is preferred. Is this possible?
Many thanks,
Matthew

Hi Matthew,

It's up to universities to decide what fees to charge, home or international. So, if your daughter has a particular university in mind we'd recommend asking them directly about this.

As for student finance, it's correct that, to be eligible, a student normally needs to have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of your course.

Has your daughter ever lived in the UK? If so, when was this?

Thanks, Graeme

Thank you Graeme, that’s all good to hear.
We have shortlisted a few and have started to contact them all, so will keep pressing on with this.
Our daughter was born in London in 2005, but we left in 2007. Her mother is British.

Cheers,
Matthew

Hi Matthew, Your daughter would require the 3 years residency to be eligible for funding unless the stay in New Zealand was for a temporary reason. Thanks, Angela
