How much does it cost to become a NHS surgeon?

I’ve seen multiple sources and they all say different things, can anyone give me the right answer. I know it can depend on the specialty, but would surgery cost around the same, no matter the specialty?

I’m confused with your question. Uni is £9250 for 5/6 years plus whatever maintenance you owe back. Then after that you’d have to pay for all the exams to become a surgeon (MRCS part A and B). I’m sure there’s more stuff to pay for during your speciality training as well as towards the end of your specialty training to become a consultant. Basically loadssss if exams to pay for. There’s some doctors on tsr they have a much more accurate answer compared to mine @GANFYD

Nope, you are right. Cost to student is student loans and exams (about £1500 a time, so depends how many times you sit it!), plus a fee to CCT (be given your end of training certificate - about £500, I think). There are courses, which are sometimes reimbursed by your employer, and things like GMC membership (just under £500) and indemnity insurance (variable, but for just NHS hospital work, generally not huge), but these are common to all specialties.
