Getting into med school uk

Hi guys i currently have my heart on studying medicine after months of debating whether it was right for me. I was just wondering whether anyone was willing to help me with any specific webinars, podcasts, lectures or books i can get myself into.

I was also wondering of you guys have any tips in general that’d be useful in making myself stand out or anything in general to be fair in regards to getting into med school.

Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.

The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources. Below is a list of threads and articles that could answer your question (you should be looking in the original post of the megathreads). If one of the below threads is a more relevant place to ask your question, please post a reply in that thread to ask your question. I’m doing dent but application process is similar. Get as much work experience as possible - can be in hospitals or working as a receptionist in a healthcare environment or volunteering and interacting with the public. And keep a diary and reflect on everything. What you learn is more important than how much work experience but I think having a lot will help you better determine whether it’s the right choice for you and make you more confident and understand more ab the profession. Getting a good UCAT is essential to getting interviews and u can defo prepare for it. Use medify or medentry. Find podcasts you are genuinely interested in and research something within med and give a presentation ab it to your friends. Work on your communication skills bc that is SO important in the interview above anything.

Ooh im in year 12 if that helps and i got 9888888876 at GCSE thank you !

I'm currently a medical student at Cambridge, some things I did to stand out in the application process was to read medical and scientific articles on the New Scientist, making quick notes on interesting things I read to bring up in interviews. I would also recommend reading one or two of the recommended books for medical applicants, i read the Selfish Gene which i found interesting. Be sure to include some of the supra-curricular things you do on your personal statement and apart from that study hard for the UCAT and BMAT to get the highest score you can as doing well on those exams will also make you stand out amongst the other applicants. if you have any other questions feel free to DM me
