Parents earn over the 45K limit, but Mum is currently on sick leave (cont)

Hi there. Just looking at finances, and my mum is the major income into the house. With my mum and dads combined income, we pass the £45,000 threshold. However, my mum is currently on long term sick (i.e 6 months+) and therefore has been reduced to half pay until she goes back to work, therefore we fall well below the 45K threshold. Does student finance England take such factors into consideration because it will severely affect their ability to help me financially through university.

Hi there,

We can take this into consideration. You parents would provide details as normal for the 12/13 year. As of the end of April, your parents will be able to submit the current year income form. This is where they will provide an estimated income for 14/15. The link for the form is www.gov.uk/student-finance-forms.

Once we receive this we will be able to reassess with the lower figures.
