Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.
The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources. Below is a list of threads and articles that could answer your question (you should be looking in the original post of the megathreads). If one of the below threads is a more relevant place to ask your question, please post a reply in that thread to ask your question. If your query is answered by one of the Megathreads or articles linked below, and you would like us to close this thread for you, please reply to this thread with just the words "thank you". A member of our team will then get it locked.

Which universities (for medicine) do not rely on the UCAT as much? For example they look more at your academic achievements, personal statement etc
Those that use BMAT?
In reality there are not so many that pay significant attention to your personal statement at the point of selecting for interview, but those that do may want to see certain things. It’s best to read the detailed selection policies for which ever med schools you are targeting based on your UCAT score.
If you have sat it already post your info in the what med school Megathread sticky and hopefully somebody will be able to help you be strategic. In the interim have a read of last years part 4 of the Megathread. But do bear in mind that nothing can really be finalised until the unis have published their final selection policies. Some are not quite there yet and they may change year on year.
In terms of academics (GCSE) there are different approaches. Either making sure you hit a base line, for example, Sheffield, Bristol, for example and then ranking on UCAT, some that score your GCSEs to a point and then rank by UCAT, and some that blend academics and UCAT plus other components etc (HYMS) some that look at UCAT again after interview UEA.
They all differ. Best to do a bit of research direct on the uni websites.
i’ve done a lot of research into it to try apply strategically and have found Belfast, Aston, sunderland and Keele seem to be my best bet but even still a very low chance.
Does any one have any info or suggestions?
